Playing a DVD

You may find that you will want to play a DVD on your laptop.

Given how thin the laptops are built now, the current fleet of staff laptops do not have a built-in DVD drive.

You'll need a portable USB DVD drive, please contact IT-Support@ortu.org to obtain one from them.

Once you have the DVD drive please use the following procedure:

1. Plug the DVD drive into a free USB slot on your laptop.

2. Open VLC Media Player from the Start Menu.

3. On the top-right hand corner of the program, click Media and then Open Disc.

4. The DVD drive letter should automatically be selected (usually D:\ or E:\).

5. Please the Play button, VLC should then start playing the film or bring you to the DVD menu to give you the option to play the film.
